Treatment for Varicose Veins

The condition manifests itself as an unaesthetic issue: a network of reddish or bluish capillaries. In a short while you will feel discomfort as well as heavy and tired feet. The development of such varicose veins is determined and influenced by many factors: body weight, lack of exercising, smoking, family history.

1.Black locust tincture

Pour 100 ml of alcohol (70°) over four spoonfuls of minced black locust flowers. Macerate it for 7-10 days and the filter it. Apply it on the afflicted area by massaging it gently. The tincture helps the swollen veins deflate. This treatment is beneficial for other conditions, such as sciatica and rheumatism.

2.Nettle tea

Pour half a liter of boiling water over 2-3 spoonfuls of dry nettle leaves. Infuse for 30-40 minutes, filter and drink a third of the tea cup an hour and a half after meals three times a day. Such treatment is effective in the onset of the condition.

3.Hazel bark tea

Boil 500 ml of water. When it boils add a spoonful of hazel bark powder and boil it for 10 minutes. Drink half a cup four times a day before meals. It is effective against varicose veins, varicose ulcers and hemorrhoids.

4.Hop tea

Grind a spoonful of hop in your coffee grinder. Pour 200 ml of boiling water on the hop powder and boil it in a steam bath for 15 minutes. Drink a cup three times a day before the main meals. You can use it externally: soak gauze in the hop tea and apply it on the afflicted area and bandage it gently.

5.Feet baths

Add two spoonfuls of black locust bark powder in two cups of boiling water. Simmer for 15-20 minutes. After it is cool, pour in a washbasin and hold your feet for no more than 30 minutes. After the bath, wear tight knit socks. Lie in your bed with your feet stretched elevated on a small pillow for at least half an hour.

6.Poultices

Take a cabbage leaf, beat it, press it with a rolling pin and anoint a part of the leaf with cooking oil. Apply on the afflicted area and bandage it. The compress will be held for 24 hours. The treatment is applied for a month.
* Shave a big potato. The obtained paste is applied on the varicose veins as a one-centimeter layer and then you cover it with gauze. Hold for 4-5 hours and then replace the poultice or pour fresh potato juice over the gauze.
* Fresh wormwood leaves and flowers are pounded in a mortar. Mix a spoonful of the obtained paste with a spoonful of sour milk (preferably prepared at home). Apply on the afflicted area and cover it with gauze. The treatment lasts for 3-4 days, take a one-week break and then redo it.

7.Garlic and honey paste

250 g of pounded garlic is mixed well with 350 g of liquid honey. Add the paste in a fast shut jar and leave it for a week in a cool place. Take a spoonful 40 minutes before meal three times a day for maximum two months. It is effective against hemorrhoids as well.

8.Vodka tinctures

These tinctures have been used in Russia since time immemorial and are considered a powerful and effective treatment for severe varicose veins or thrombophlebitis.
1. Pour half a liter of vodka over 100 g of pounded nutmeg. Macerate it by shaking the bottle daily. Filter it and take 20 drops half an hour before the main meals three times a day. Drink the entire tincture and after that take a ten-day break and redo it until you are fully recovered.
2. Pour half a liter of vodka over 50 g of horse-chestnut flowers or fruit. Pour the tincture in a bottle and macerate if for two weeks in a warm and dark place by shaking it daily.Take 30-40 drops three or four times a day for four weeks.
