Gout is a form of arthritis (joint inflammation) characterized by painful episodes inferior to joint inflammation. The condition is characterized by pain, edema, redness and local heat (inflammation) as well as joint dysfunction.
Treatments:
Mustard poultice
Take a teaspoon of honey, mustard flour and salt used for pickles. Heat the honey in a steam bath in order to make it mellow and add salt until it dissolves. Then add the mustard. Before going to bed, anoint the afflicted area with pot marigold cream or with cooking oil, and apply on it the aforementioned mixture. Add cellophane on top, bandage the area nicely and wear wool socks. Before the procedure, put your feet in warm water for 15 minutes and add 2-3 spoonfuls of baking soda and 5 drops of iodine. In the morning wash your feet with water and anoint them with cream. In order for it to take effect, repeat the procedure during a longer period of time.
Egg ointment
Add an egg with white egg-shell in a 200 ml jar with a lid in which you need to add vinegar essence (70%). Keep it in a dark place for two weeks until the egg-shell is dissolved. Peel the egg skin and throw it away, and mix the egg’s content with the vinegar from the jar and with 100 g butter or melted lard. Anoint the swollen area thrice a week after you wash it beforehand with iodine.
Aspirin poultice
Mix two equal parts of a spoonful of iodine and lemon juice and add two crushed aspirins. Put the mixture on a cotton pad and apply on the afflicted area. Cover it with a thick cloth, put cellophane over it and bandage it nicely. Repeat it three consecutive days with a one-week break and then repeat the treatment.
Watercress leaves
Mince the leaves like porridge and apply the paste on the afflicted area daily for a month.
Red onion
Grate a red onion, put it between two layers of gauze and apply it on the joint. Bandage it and put a plastic bag on top. Hold it like that for the entire night. Wash your feet in the morning and anoint them with iodine. The treatment lasts one month.
Pickles
Before going to bed, put your feet in warm water and wash them and then add slices of pickles on the afflicted area for each foot. Bandage them, put a cellophane cover on top and keep it like that the whole night during which the pain disappears.
Salt baths
Salt baths are used in alleviating the pain and reducing the heel spurs. Add a handful of salt in 5-6 l of boiling water, and when the water cools until it reaches the body temperature, introduce your feet in the water for 15 minutes. The treatment is done daily for two weeks and then you ought to take a four-week break. Repeat the treatment four times.
It is a radical, painful treatment but it has great results in a short amount of time. It may be used for all the joints in the body (both gout and arthritis).
Recipe: mix a cup of snow with a spoonful of salt. Apply on the afflicted area up to two minutes. After that, remove the snow and clean the area. Put cotton pads, then paper, wrap it in a scarf or a woolen kerchief. Hold the compress for 3-5 hours. If in those two minutes the skin freezes too hard, anoint it with common sea-buckthorn oil or other oils until its condition is restored. Repeat the procedure 3-5 times. The option is simple: put salt water in the freezer and make ice cubes. Anoint the afflicted area with the cubes and hold it there until they melt. Then apply a warm object until the inflammation disappears.
